Green Olives Or Black Olives - Which Is Better For Your Health?

The olive tree holds a special place in the Greek history and culture. It was closely connected to their religion and food. Many people around the globe have switched to olive oil due to its numerous health benefits. Many companies are involved in the manufacturing of this scrumptious, luscious and nutritious fruit and its oil. Not all olive oils are the same. They differ in terms of quality and taste. For example, an extra virgin olive oil has an acidity level between 0 to 1, while a virgin olive oil’s acidity level could be anywhere between 1 and 1.5. Similarly the ripeness can also affect the taste of the oil.

Green olives are plucked before they ripen and hence they are a little firmer and denser. Black olives are plucked in their fully ripened form. The oils are generally made from a combination of both green olives and black olives. When it comes to nutritional value, there is not much of a difference between these two. Both types are rich in iron, copper, vitamin E and polyphenols which are very beneficial to the body. There are a number of healthy olive oil recipes that one could follow to stay fit and healthy as they contain large amounts of high monounsaturated fats and minerals.
